The building programmed is a new facility to accommodate the consolidation of several Public Works sites throughout the County in an attempt to create more efficient Public Works operations. The building is approximately 30,000 - 40,000 square feet and was programmed to accommodate the following Mesa County departments; Public Works Administration, Engineering, Fleet, Road& Bridge, Traffic, Weed & Pest, and a portion of Laidlaw Transit's functions. The building would require typical office space, shop space, minimally conditioned space to accommodate special storage requirements, covered unconditioned storage space, as well as significant site parking and laydown requirements. Site traffic flow was a major concern upon the development of this program so conceptual site plans were developed to depict various options for site design. Conceptual floor plans were also created to demonstrate how office space and shop space can be successfully applied within a single building and to portray how Universal Design concepts could be implemented for this application.
