A 10-year Master Plan was developed for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG). Total square footage evaluated was 536,906 valued at over $55.2 million. The facilities ranged from 25 to 88 years of age. Significant deferred maintenance and above average operation & maintenance expenditures plagued LFUCG financially so it was determined that it would be more economically feasible to vacate and/or demolish certain facilities and build a new Government Center. This approach allows LFUCG to relieve themselves of the many financial burdens of their inefficient buildings while helping to revive downtown Lexington.
